Hi folks after the great fundraiser last year, where I got numb bum from being on the train, i thought I'd try something a little more adventurous this year. So if my orthopaedic surgeon gives me the OK, my next fundraiser will be.. a 100ft Abseil off the Fort Dunlop building in Birmingham. The Charity abseil will be done through Pinnacle Challenge, who I have been in touch with and they are happy for me to take part so long as get the OK. Here's the Fort Dunlop Building formerly the old tyre factory. I'll keep you all posted :) Jo. 2012 Fundraising for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RoboJo

Oh Jo! You are so brave! What is making you think about doing anything so dangerous? Cringing thinking about the height. Good luck anyway but don't take chances of doing yourself harm.

Hiya Eleanor, I've done abseiling before in the Peak District and loved it. I've spoken with the organisers and they tell me that should I get into any difficulty they're able to lower you down to the ground safely. I'm not a great lover of heights myself, but you get a real great buzz when you're heading down the wall :) Another reason is that a former workmate of mine (who's extremely tight fisted) has said online (with witnesses) that he'd pay £50 if I did that. So I want to get something other than moths out of his wallet <giggle> Jo. (Bonkers!) 2012 Fundraising for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RoboJo

Actually Jean, as soon as I'd written that I thought "I bet Jean would love to do that"! because I know you used to do rock climbing and stuff. Go for it if the doc gives you the all clear, just don't tell Lucy! (why do our children feel so responsible for us? ) Doreen xx

Hi Joanne Wow, fantastic news and we'll be there to cheer you every step of the way! Fingers crossed for the OK from the specialist. Let me know if you need anything from us. How about a smart new NRAS T-shirt to abseil down in? Thank you for your support. Tracey and the team

Amanda - why don't we wait at the bottom with empty wineglasses - then if Jo whirls down to us with the wine it will be a bit like the Milk Tray advert from years ago!!!! ;)
